iOS 6.1 released

iOS 6.1 has been released. Its not really a major update considering its a .1 release and not a .02 release. Just some minor bug fixes, LTE, and improved Siri search in the US. Maybe this is a prelude to the rumored major update come summer.

Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken

Peri Peri is always one of my favorite restaurants. They serve Portugese charcoal grilled chicken. I don't know what are the spices they mix with that chicken but the end product is really good. I have eaten there quite a number of times already and it never failed me. Usually when we visit, we only order their individual plates, but yesterday since we are 7 in the group, we ordered their Peri Peri Chicken Jumbo platter (2 whole chicken which are chopped- choice of lemon, mild, or spicy chicken, java rice good for 8, and choice of coleslaw or corn and carrots good for 8) and Chicken Fajitas good for 4-8 persons. You can have an upgrade of soup and beverage all you can for 49 pesos.

As earlier stated, this visit did not fail me. The chicken was not dry and you can actually see the 'chicken oil' dripping when you slice the chicken open. However, if you are not really into spicy food, don't order your chicken spicy or even mild spicy. When they say spicy, its really spicy without compromising the Portugese charcoal chicken taste. If you decide to try their spicy chicken, prepare lots of water (I did).

According to Wikipedia, fajitas are 'commonly referring to any grilled meat served as a taco on a flour or corn tortilla. The term originally referred to the cut of beef used in the dish which is known as skirt steak. Popular meats today also include chicken, pork, shrimp, and all cuts of beef. In restaurants, the meat is often cooked with onions and bell peppers.' This definition by Wikipedia is the accurate description of Peri Peri Chicken Fajitas. The chicken strips served with the fajitas are the same chicken they serve with a regular order and the chicken strips are exactly 8 in number, meaning 1 strip is to 1 tortilla. Chicken fajitas is PHP 300+.

Overall, the food in Peri Peri is as tasteful as you want it to be, you will not be disappointed. As I've said I've been there a number of times, and I will surely come back for more. The restaurant space is a bit crowdy but nevertheless suitable for casual dining or lunch out. Service is not fast, but not really slow na 'malilipasan ka na ng gutom', more or less 15-20 minutes top. You can actually enjoy your unlimited soup and drinks while waiting for your order so you won't really mind the waiting time. Large size servings will really give the value for your money. A group of 8 can eat and have a full stomach with leftover to take home for only 1200+.

Single order - PHP 150+
Group of 4 - PHP 400-600+
Group of 8 above - PHP 1200+
Unlimited soup of the day and beverage - PHP 49

US vs. Baggay

*this case is hard to find online so I took the liberty of digesting the case for your reference

US vs. Baggay
20 Phil 140

Facts:

About the 4th of October, 1909, several persons were assembled in the defendant’s house in the township of Penarrubia, Abra, Province of Ilocos Sur, for the purpose of holding a song service called “buni” according to the Tinguian custom when the non-Christian Baggay, without provocation suddenly attacked the woman Bil-liingan with a bolo, inflicting a serious
wound on her head from which she expired immediately; and with the same bolo he likewise inflicted various wounds on the women named Calabayan, Agueng, Quisamay, Calapini, and on his own mother, named Dioalan.
For this reason the provincial fiscal filed a complaint in the court of Ilocos Sur, dated February 15, charging the non-Christian Baggay, jr., with murder, because of the violent death of the woman Bil-liingan. This cause was instituted separately from the other, No. 1109, for lesiones. After trial and proof that the defendant was suffering from mental aberration, the judge on April 28 rendered the judgment whereby he was declared exempt from criminal liability but was obliged to indemnify the heirs of the murdered woman, Bil-liingan, in the sum of P1,000, to pay the costs in the case and to be confined in an institution for the insane until further order of the court.

Issue:

WON insane defendant, Baggay, Jr., notwithstanding that he was held exempt from criminal liability, has nevertheless incurred civil liability, with obligation to indemnify the heirs of the murdered woman and to pay the costs.

Ruling:

Yes. True it is that civil liability accompanies criminal liability, because every person liable criminally for a crime or misdemeanor is also liable for reparation of damage and for indemnification of the harm done, but there may be civil liability because of acts ordinarily punishable, although the law has declared their perpetrators exempt from criminal liability. Such is the case of a lunatic or insane person who, in spite of his irresponsibility on account of the deplorable condition of his deranged mind, is still reasonably and justly liable with his property for the consequences of his acts, even though they be performed unwittingly, for the reason that his fellows ought not to suffer for the disastrous results of his harmful acts more than is necessary, in spite of his unfortunate condition. Law and society are under obligation to protect him during his illness and so when he is declared to be liable with his property for reparation and indemnification, he is still entitled to the benefit of what is necessary for his decent maintenance, but this protection does not exclude liability for damage caused to those who may have the misfortune to suffer the consequences of his acts.

According to the law, the persons in the first place liable. are those who have the insane party under their care or guardianship, unless they prove that there was no blame or negligence on their part; but if the demented person or imbecile lack a guardian or some person charged with his care, if the latter be insolvent, then his own property must meet the civil liability of indemnifying or repairing the damage done, and for this reason judges and courts in rendering judgment in a criminal cause prosecuted against an insane or demented person, even when they hold the accused exempt from criminal liability, must fix the civil liability of the persons charged with watching over and caring for him or the liability of the demented person him self with his property for reparation of the damage and indemnification for the harm done, unless the offended party or the heirs of the person murdered expressly renounce such reparation or indemnification.

National Sports Grill Greenbelt 3

I've always wanted to eat in National Sports Grill because 1.) many say food is great and; 2.) large serving. I was not disappointed. Food was really great and the serving was humongous. Serving was so big that even if it is meant to be solo, you can actually share your meal. My girlfriend and I ordered the bestsellers: chicken parmesan served with garlic toast and macaroni (choice of red or white sauce) for my girlfriend and the San Francisco Burger (on sourdough Parmesan bread with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, cheese, grilled onions and national sauce with a choice of fries or onion rings as sidedish) for me. For a big size meal, the price is actually reasonable. Both our orders are Php 425 each. Pictures won't do justice the size of the meal. We decided not to order iced tea or softdrinks so we can finish the meal but we still ended up taking home the leftover macaroni and chicken.

Service is great. The moment you approach their door, waitresses in belly-baring jerseys will approach you and is willing to serve and listen. Interiors have dark lighting which makes it conducive for private conversation.

In my opinion, it is a manly restaurant. It will cater more to men than to women, not because of the sporty theme (many women nowadays are sporty, athletic, and fitness buffs) but because of the sheer size pf the meals. Lets admit it, only men will have to appetite to consume the portions served in National Sports Grill. Overall its a good experience, good food, large size, and fast efficient service.

Voucher Deals

People nowadays have huge number of choices where to eat. However, these restaurants are not always affordable. A person will have to shell out Php 300 or more for a single meal. Php 300 is expensive that's why we should take advantage of food deals from group buying sites such as Metrodeal, Ensogo, Cashcashpinoy, and A-deals. Of course there a lot more similar sites but the ones mentioned are tried and tested sites the I personally use. They offer a wide range of items from gift items to electronics to fashion to travel. There are some issues or scandals from some of these sites, but these issues are mostly from their travel deals so I advise you not to but travel deals from online discount sources. From their food choices you can buy cakes, chocolate, food grocery items (such as Nestle products, Yakult, Chips, etc), and of course restaurant vouchers at a discounted price that range from 10%-70% off.

For restaurant deals, most of time they offer 40%-50% off on food prices. Before, most of the offers were Php 500 worth of food for only Php 250, but now its Php 500 worth of food for Php 300. Still its not bad because if you know what to order, you will have a full meal good for 2-3 people plus a take out (most of these restaurants now have big servings so probably you won't be able to finish your meal) for only Php 600 instead of Php 1000.

Buying vouchers on these sites is a great way to be able to try different restaurants and try their different food choices. Plus some of these offers are recurring so if you missed out on a deal or simply want to eat again in the same place at a discounted price, you can still do so. And its also a great alternative to fastfood we have been accustomed to eating when we are on a tight bugdet.
